TQ981702. A Roman site, presumably a small farmstead occupied during the third quarter of the 1st cent.A.D., was descovered in 1967 during farming work on Standford Hill. Mr.F.Oakes carried out a small excavation and collected pottery sherds, animal bones, and some briquetage. (1) Find site covering a small area is centred within HM Prison Eastchurch and Mr Oakes is on the staff there. Finds are in Maidstone Museum but the site was not visted. (2)
