[Area TQ 924531] Slight hollows mark the positions of five deneholes in the field which is crossed by the parish boundary to the west of Warren Street and north of the road to Pivington Farm. Near the middle of the field to the west there are three pits, one of considerable depth. (1-2) Centred at TQ 92555308 are several slight circular depressions which may mark the sites of dene holes. One, more pronounced than the others, is at TQ 92565309. At TQ 92575306, are two adjoining deneholes, the shafts rubbish- blocked. The depressions are large and deep and filled with trees and bushes. A further pair in similar condition are in the next field at TQ 92415316. (Surveyed at 1/2500) 30.0m to the N. a published pit at TQ 92405320, 4.0m in diameter, may be the site if a further shaft. The farmer indicated the site of a filled-in denehole at TQ 92595319 (Surveyed at 1/1500). (3) The two Deneholes at TQ 92415316 are no longer extant. (4) (TQ 92425320) Denehole (NR) (TQ 92575306, TQ 92585306 and TQ 92595306) Deneholes (NR). (5) The area in which the deneholes occur has been converted to two large arable fields. There is now no trace of that at TQ 92415319, depicted on the OS 25' 1970 as a depression, or of those shown as siting symbols at TQ 92415317, TQ 92405316 and TQ 92594319. The three depressions at TQ 92565309, TQ 92575306 and TQ 92595306 are still traceable, their diameters approximately 11m to 15m but no more than 0.4m to O.5m deep. Survey revised at 1:2500.
