Nine specimens of Roman pottery and a piece of pavement, dug up in the Upchurch Marshes from a depth of c.8 ft. were exhibited in March 1865 by H.W. Cope. Some consular coins were obtained from the same spot. All now in the possession of Mr C. Goaden. (1) Reference to republican coins, based on Auth. 1. (2)
