[TQ 8640 6789] A Romano-British occupation site from which were recovered sherds (many of Upchurch ware), tiling (ridged and otherwise), iron nails, a broken quern and a bronze phalera. See AO/58/59/4. (1) A small bronze phalera, given by Mr J. P. T. Burchell, is in the British Museum. (2) A faint scatter of building debris and sherds mark the general area of this site which now lies below the high water mark. (3). Additional reference from relevant field reports (4).
