[TQ 78017123 - Approx.] In 1895, whilst digging drains to carry off water, foundations of Roman buildings were found a few feet below the surface. Their position would be about 60 yds. W. of the tramway [see OS.25" 1897] and 30 yds. from the footpath on the bank of the river (1-2). Area covered by heavy undergrowth and perambulation produced no signs of building debris etc. A flue tile and pottery from this site were seen in Maidstone Museum (3). This area has been cleared, and is now a caravan site (4). Additional references (5,6) and site photographs (7-9). No visible remains in 2004. (10)
