Gillingham Fort was a 17th century artillery fort. It housed 24 guns but was thought to have already been in a state of decay by 1806. The fort was marked on charts and is visible in site photographs, but no recognisable remains of this fort survive. Now the site of Gillingham Pier.

[TQ 77816978] Gillingham Forte 24 guns (1) Gillingham Fort (2) Gillingham Fort was in a state of decay in 1806. (3) There are no recognisable remains of this fort the site of which is occupied by Gillingham Pier (4). Additional bibliography and references (5,6).
