Summary

Lower Palaeolithic handaxe, probably Acheulian, found on Coxheath in 1926. A handaxe, may be the same one as found in 1926, was found at Springett Way, Coxheath, in an area of Hythe Beds geology.

A handaxe of St. Acheul type, from Cox Heath, on the surface. In Maidstone Mus. (1) An Acheulian handaxe in Maidstone Museum store was found in 1926 at Cox Heath but no details of its discovery or of its finder are known. (2) Recorded by Roe in the 1960s (4).
