Description from record TQ 94 SE 14:
(TQ 9549 4120) Yardhurst [NAT] (1) Yardhurst, Sandy Lane, Daniel's Water, Great Chart. Grade 2*. C15 timber-framed and close-studded building of 2 storeys with plaster infilling, the first floor of the end window bays oversailing on the protruding ends of the floor joists and brackets. The centre portion has its eaves overhanging on curved braces and a central bracket. Steeply-pitched hipped tiled roof. Casement windows. Four blocked original windows with wooden mullions, 3 of them in the first floor ofthe end window bays, having 3 lights each with cinquefoil heads. Pointed wooden doorway. Two windows and 2 blocked windows. The first floor of the east front similarly oversails and has curved braces. Thenorth front has curved braces to the first floor of its east half, theground floor rebuilt in red brick, and a pentice to its west half. (For full description see list). (2) Yardhurst, until recently a typical example of a compact yeoman holding, being less than 80 acres but rich enough to build and maintain a 'Wealden' hall-house (see illustration card). It has escaped any major rebuilding and is a relatively early instance of close-studding perhaps dating from the third quarter of the C15th. (3) The tracery in the square-headed window lights of the end bays isunusual as it is rare for such original woodwork to survive. (4).
