On the outbreak of war the park was requisitioned and in 1940 used as a dummy “K” (daylight), “Q” (night) and “F” (simulated bombed airfield) airfield site for Biggin Hill with dummy buildings and aircraft until 1942. (1)

‘Starfish sites’ were designated places to light deception fires to draw fire from large cities, aircraft manufacturing plants etc, and there was one of those in Lullingstone Country Park too. (2)
