At Bardingley are remains of a triangular moat, centred at TQ 79954553. The north east arm, crossed by an 18th c. brick bridge and brick- revetted on the inner side, is water filled, as is part of the south east arm. The course of the west arm is indicated by a field boundary bank and ditch. Only one other example of a triangular moat is known in the county this is at Coldbridge (TQ 84 NE 1) the site of a fortified manor house. Bardingley farmhouse, standing within the enclosed area, is a half- timbered building of little architectural interest; probably 16th c. Published 1:2500 survey revised. (1) Additional bibliography.
