Type of record:Monument
Name:Site of Late Medieval Chapel, Canterbury

Summary

During excavation work in 1978-79 & 2002 evidence was found of a late 15th century (c.1490's) flint-walled rectangular building with a mortared floor. This was built partly against the mid twelve century Priory boundary wall. Post-Reformation two brick garderobes with tiled floors were constructed at the eastern end of this building. These gardrobes drained by a stone sewer, which ran into the nearby garden. The building is believed to have been demolished in the mid 17th century and the area turned into a garden.
