The Mount was built as a Dower House in 1892 possibly to a design by George Devey and takes its name from the Barrow in the garden (TQ 54 NW 7). The walls are of brick with a dressed stone front. It is tile hung on the first floor with a half timbered front gable projection. The roof is plain tile with gables, that to the east end projecting over bay winodws and supported at the eaces on decorated timber brackets. The end gables are faced with cedar shingles. The front gable also has timber brackets at the first floor level. The windows are metal casements in wood frames. A sundial feature has been built on to the front gable. Later extensions are a leanton at the west end and a recent flat-roofed addition to the rear. To the north west there is an L shaped garage block in timber frame covered with boarding under tile roof. (1)
