Summary

WWII type 22 pillbox visible in 1942 and 1945, located in Dover. This hexagonal pillbox was located on Prince of Wales’ pier directly alongside the high water mark. It is not visible on an aerial photo taken of the town in 1948 suggesting that it had been removed by this time. (location accurate to the nearest 1m based on available information)

WWII type 22 pillbox, built by June 1940, is visible on aerial photography taken in 1942 and 1945, located in Dover. This hexagonal pillbox measured 4.5m at maximum dimensions and was located on Prince of Wales’ pier directly alongside the high water mark. It is not visible on an aerial photo taken of the town in 1948 suggesting that it had been removed by this time. (1-3)
