Summary

A number of clay pits were formerly located near a dismantled railway works near Westwood. The pits are not marked on the 1st edition Ordnance survey map but appear on the 2nd edition of c.1891-1898 as 'Old Clay Pits'. The boundary of these features remains in the 3rd edition map of c.1905-1922.
