Summary

A chalk pit was previously located in close association with a windmill at Sarre. The pit is denoted on the 1st and 2nd edition Ordnance survey maps of c.1861 to 1895 as 'Old Chalk Pit'. This may indicate that the site was no longer in use at this time. The boundary is still clear on the 3rd and 4th edition maps 0f c.1905-1940, although the site is no longer marked.
