A chalk well which appeared in 1963 in the front garden of 18 Mitchell Avenue, Northfleet, at TQ 62687280, was investigated by J. Caiger. (a) The shaft was 6 feet in diameter and 38 feet deep: There were three chambers. Finds dated the well to c. 1770. Subsequently, it was sealed off with concrete; there are now no surface indications of its site. (b) (1)
