Summary

Kingsnorth Power station was built between 1963-73; it was one of ten stations built by the Central Electricity Generating Board during that period. The plant included two large jetties for colliers and tankers, detached administration and control room buildings and a separate back-up gas turbine station. It was also built with an unusual dual fired coal and oil design (coal is now the sole fuel). The power station is of little architectural interest.

Kingsnorth Power Sation, built 1963-73 as one of 10 2000 MW stations built by CEGB (Central Electricity Generating Board) during that period. Unusual dual fired (coal and oil options) design. Two large jetties for colliers and tankers. Coal was the sole fuel after 1978. Functional block with no architectural detailing and detatched administration and control room building. Also separate back-up gas turbine station (1), site photographs see (2-4).
