Summary

Human remains were reportedly found on at this location during work to repair storm defences by the Southern Water Authority. The finds were apparently made in the sediments beneath the shingle. A lead coffin has also been reported from the site although this has since been sold for scrap. No further information about these discoveries was available.

During repairs to storm defences by Southern Water Authority, disturbance of the Thanet beds underlying the shingle has occasionally revealed human remains. On one occasion a 'lead coffin' was revealed (later sold for scrap). No further detalis (1). Additional references (2).
