(TQ 64065105) Sites of Palaeolithic finds. (1) Refs to Pa implements found in gravel-pit(s) at Goose Green, Hadlow. 'Very rude palaeolithic implement' in 1879' much rolled palaeolith in 1881 or 2. A note of 1895 states that after the find of 1881 or 2, "later visits to the same place without a scrap of man being lighted on" were made. (2) The Harrison collection of flints has been largely dispersed only a few selected examples being held by the Maidstone Museum. A MS catalogue of the collection, in the museum, lists the finds by period and place name, with no indication of type of implement or exact provenance. The siting given by authority 1 should be considered as only approximate. (3) One Palaeolithic handaxe held in Maidstone Museum, recorded by Roe in the 1960s (6).
