Maplescombe valley: numerous Palaeolithic material (>10 handaxes, >10 flakes, and a possible flake-tool) recorded by Roe in the 1960s (2) in collections of various museums, mostly the British Museum (2). No info on circumstances of recovery but almost certainly surface-finds. Some Palaeolithic artefacts reportedly found by Benjamin Harrison in late 19th century from "driflint patches" at c. 400flint OD and lower down towards the base of the Maplescombe valley (1).
