Summary

Aerial photographs show an extensive complex of ditches and enclosures at Letterbox Field, Maydensole Farm. Archaeological evaluation in 1997 and subsequent excavation in 1998/9 discovered an extensive iron age / Roman settlement covering 4 ha. Features included a building occupied til the 4th century which contained infant burials and a pit containing possible animal deposits.
