Between 2005 and 2007 Canterbury Archaeological trust carried out a watching brief. A scorched clay floor was found below a standing wall. The wall cut several mettaled surfaces, possibly courtyards. A sequence of floors were found against the wall. This suggests that a substantial building once occupied the site, at least partially within the line of the current road. (1)
